6th Annual Dragonfly Celebration

10:00 am — 8:00 pm

Dr. Nancy McIntyre, Texas Tech Professor of Biology, and the Sibley Nature Center Camera Club will lead you on a journey to learn how to participate in scientific research and collect important scientific data on odonates, dragonflies and damselflies. The Sibley Nature Center Pond and Playa has a particularly diverse population of odonates including one that has only been observed in one other location in Texas (California Spreadwing)! The Pond is man-made in a former playa which is being restored with native plants, shrubs and trees to increase the health of the ecosystem and preserve this important habitat for years to come. You can be a part of this process by learning to collect, photograph and share scientific data on dragonflies and damselflies of Sibley. Registration cost of $25 includes a catered lunch, hat, an 8 x 10 print of one of your photos, research materials, and more!
