Dr. Rebecca Dodge on Texas Natural Hazard Impacts in State Parks

Texas’ 95 State Parks comprise multiple ecosystems and geographic landscapes.  They are also subject to multiple natural hazards. This presentation covers five State Parks located in diverse geographic settings, as they are impacted by and recover from natural hazards including drought, flooding, hurricanes, and wildfires.  The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department employees respond during natural disasters, and work restore and maintain State Parks’ habitats and infrastructure after a natural disaster. Often, citizen groups such as the Texas Master Naturalists are as instrumental in restoration efforts as they are in actively promoting and utilizing State Parks’ resources across the state.

** This is a free presentation open to the public. Cookies and tea will be provided. **
